The crafty Reynard of countless fables, the red fox's appeal is its alert
expression. It is a handsome animal whose long silky fur set off by a
white chest, black "boots" and a bushy tail sometimes make it appear
larger than its 8 to 11pounds.
The sharp, pointed bill and red eye are characteristics of the "Common
Loon". Its blood chilling cry is unforgetable, a wailing lament that
trails off into maniacle laughter.
The White Tail Deer is in abundance throughout North America and
trophy racks are common place in the Upper Peninsula!
The mother black bear and cub stay together until the cub is more than
half grown - usually about 2 years.
The Bull Moose is the largest member of the deer family. It can be found
in the U.P. & the border of Wisconsin.
The North American Timber or Gray Wolf is making a comeback in the U.S.
Often hunted and trapped as a predator, it is now a protected species.
